This is our garden and the following is an ongoing account of how we are developing it into something that will hopefully be beautiful and productive.
We moved here in August 2011, almost at the end of the growing season and it was a struggle to see the potential at this point. However, there were plus points, the size of the garden, not too big or too small, some mature trees and shrubs and a limited number of perennials yet to be identified.
On the downside I could see that lack of a firm hand had allowed some rather nasty weeds to gain a stronghold, they being Calystegia silvatica (Great Bindweed) and Aegopodium podagraria (Ground Elder). There was one plastic compost bin, a dilapidated shed and quite a bit of rubbish to clear. Not for the faint hearted!
My goal is to grow herbs, vegetables and flowers, not in the traditional layouts of veggie plot, flower borders and herb garden, but to merge all three into pots, beds and borders much like a tapestry, all growing side-by-side in harmony.
I hope you will enjoy following my blog and welcome your ideas and comments.
