My Sweeties and a Flowerpot

‘Cupani’, ‘Winston Churchill’, White Supreme’ and ‘Painted Lady’

Had a simple idea, in the event of a vase shortage just turn a flowerpot upside down!

My Sweeties …

Lathyrus odoratus ‘Cupani’

Cupani was a Sicilian monk and it is him that we should thank for bringing this gorgeous Sweet Pea into cultivation over 300 years ago (1699 to be precise). It is from this one plant that all modern varieties have been bred.  It has a striking bicolour combination and the most heavenly scent.   Definitely one of my favourites.

What’s Flowering Now

Lathyrus odoratus ‘Painted Lady’

L. odoratus ‘Painted Lady’ is a heritage variety developed in the 17th century and is still very popular today, for good reason.  The bicolor flowers, pink and white, are highly fragrant. This cultivar is one of the early flowering varieties blooming from June onwards if sown October to late February under glass for planting out in April.
